PHOTOGRAPHY: A Sneak Peek at Birk Thomassen’s “Cornucopia”.

Serving as a companion project for the queer erotic film “All Work No Play” , “Cornucopia” , according to the photographer, is “a body of work that serves both as a behind -the- scenes documentation and a staged tool for exploring feelings of exposing oneself in front of a camera”.

The photographic series captures models / performers in intimate settings and situations, which is something Thomassen is extremely sensitive towards. “It can get very intense sometimes,” he says in an interview with i-D, adding that consent and understanding are vital. “I usually just have a chat with people about what is going to happen before I start flashing away with my camera”.

“Cornucopia” forms part of a wider project called Lightroom that seeks to promote and explore the transparency, safety and ethical practices of the Copenhagen porn industry. In addition to Thomassen’s work, Lightroom will also feature works that delve into queerness, sex and toxic masculinity.
