Described as a “visual manifesto for queer liberation, acceptance, and infinite visibility”, Our Light Through Darkness is a new book of photography by non-profit organisation Impulse Group NYC and creative director, filmmaker and photographer LaQuann Dawson.

The compilation celebrates the queer community’s ability to heal, cope and forward after enduring a year that once again highlighted systemic racism, economic struggles, police brutality and widespread discrimination. Not to mention, the tragic loss of life due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The collaborators created the book as a way to “celebrate and archive the spectrum of intricate experiences as a queer community in New York City” and position “these truths as being a form of resistance through even the darkest hour”.
