More than 50 queer artists are showcasing their work at The Rebel Dykes Art & Archive Show in London.

According to the exhibition page, “The London Rebel Dykes merged outsider cultures in the 1980s to create a fresh feminist exploration of art, sex and activism. From coming together at Greenham and squatting in Brixton to throwing parties, starting bands and building family, the Rebel Dykes represent a converging of communities of outsider lesbians: punks, bikers, clubbers, musicians, squatters, protestors, kinksters and gender outlaws”.

Featured artists and contributors range from lesbian art icon Del LaGrace Volcano, documentary photographer Jessica Tanzer, who photographed 80s to 90s San Francisco throughout the AIDS crisis and ActUp movemen, and contemporary practitioners like Katayoun Jalilipour, a genderqueer, Iran-born multidisciplinary artist and performer.

The exhibition also features drag kings, like Dr Stainz and Prinx Silver, and as photography Darren Evans points out in DAZED: “I don’t feel like drag kings are afforded the same opportunities as drag queens and I believe this to be rooted in misogyny”.
